As the new Payroll Manager, you will manage and support a small, busy payroll team, making sure that everything runs smoothly whilst embracing an environment where creativity and innovation is encouraged and rewarded. You’ll report to an experienced and supportive People Director and collaborate closely with the people team to create new reward and benefit initiatives. Key to the role is ensuring that the payroll process is seamless, clear, and reflective of their commitment to ethical practices.
 

The job

  • Oversee and support the payroll team with monthly payroll processing (c700), ensuring all related reporting and filing for payrolls is delivered.
  • Collaborate with the People Director and CFO on the implementation and management of annual salary forecasting and quarterly updates.
  • Be the point of contact for the senior management team on managing departmental budget changes and forward forecasting.
  • Own the annual salary benchmarking framework and prepare the report for signoff.
  • Manage all payroll platforms and help with the upkeep of systems.
  • Administer the company pension schemes, to include auto-enrolment compliance and monthly schedules.
  • Provide advice and training to managers and employees as required.
  • Work closely with the relevant departments and organisations to ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Develop custom reporting as required by the business for people and payroll data.
  • Act as a mentor to your team and encourage personal development.

The person specification

  • CIPP member or equivalent qualification/ experience in Payroll
  • Experience of providing advice and guidance to all people, including directors and shareholders.
  • Strong technical skills, with an interest in AI.
  • Exceptional coaching and mentoring skills
  • Strong relationship building skills with all levels of colleagues across the organisation.
  • Problem solving mindset
