Assistant Finance Manager

Permanent | £30,000-£35,000 per annum

Our client, a progressive and growing commercial business is looking for a self-motivated Assistant Finance Manager to join its growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business as it embarks on an exciting growth trajectory.  Within this role you will be responsible for recording all financial transactions to able accurate financial reporting as well as assisting in financial analysis and management accounts preparation. The role reports into an impressive Finance Director who has emphasised the opportunity for promotion as the business quickly grows. 

This role would suit someone who has experience in a similar role and is now keen to join a growing business and develop their career in a dynamic, fast-moving business.  The role will also participate in designing and implementing best practice, new processes etc to build a best-in-class finance team.

Study support is on offer in addition to flexible and hybrid working arrangements.

The Job

  • Daily reconciliation of the company’s bank accounts (including invoice finance accounts).
  • Reconciliation of the Company Credit Card account.
  • Updating the Cashflow with actuals and forecasted income/costs and highlighting pinch points/areas of note.
  • Assist in the raising of sales invoices and uploading to customer payment portals
  • Posting of daily sales made to consumers via sales platforms and reconciling cash received to sales data.
  • Review and process all purchase invoices received.
  • Complete supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Prepare the weekly supplier payment run in line with cashflow and for review and approval with the MD/FD.
  • Process approved payment runs and send remittance advices to relevant suppliers.
  • Process weekly staff expenses/queries.
  • Own the month end close process.
  • Assist the FD in preparation of Monthly Management Accounts for review by the leadership team.
  • Responsible for key balance sheet reconciliations: Cash, Fixed Assets & Prepayments.
  • Assist with the quarterly VAT Return.
  • Along with the Finance Director Implement effective policies and procedures to mitigate risks to the business and improve the Finance Function. 
  • Act as cover for the Finance Director re: Monthly Payroll as may be required.

Person Specification

  • You should be part Qualified (AAT, ACA, ACCA etc).
  • You should ideally have 2-3 years of experience in a similar and be prepared to be hands on, undertaking the day-to-day activities
  • You will be keen to grow and develop your career in the business.
  • Ideally have Xero experience or be familiar with other cloud based accounting packages
  • Good Excel Skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Table Level would be advantageous )
