General Manager

Permanent | £55,000-£60,000 per annum

We are delighted to be supporting this successful and growing facilities management business based on the outskirts of Cardiff, in helping them find a talented and dedicated General Manager to lead and manage their day-to-day operations.

As the new GM you will be a natural innovator and thrive whilst delivering an excellent service to all your customers. You will have a commercial mindset and seek to grow the business further, through first class account management and business developments activities.

You will be adept at managing an operational team and focusing on delivery of first-class customer service. You will be compliance savvy regarding customers’ contracts and be knowledgeable when it comes to service level agreements.

This is a hands-on role, one where you will need to be proactive, and solutions led.
 

The job

  • Provide clear and consistent leadership and management for the operational and contract management team
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are developed, implemented, and updated
  • Review progress against Service Level Agreements and/or service contracts to review optimisation of client satisfaction and business relationships
  • Attend key account client meetings with operational managers and compile and issue SLA KPI matrix data as needed
  • Hold operations meetings and record key points around actions and KPI’s
  • Produce reports for presentation to senior management as required
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety requirements and obligations are fulfilled and up to date
  • Ensure all GDPR requirements are fulfilled and up to date
  • Oversee all HR requirements, advising the operational team as necessary, co – ordinating and where necessary undertaking recruitment, disciplinary and grievance matters, staff welfare and performance, training, and TUPE process etc.
  • Liaise with the Operations Support Manager to ensure that all vetting, Right to Work, DBS/Enhanced DBS requirements are captured
  • Recommend and implement initiatives for the strategic development of the business
  • Manage budgets and deliver on financial targets and contribute to the year-on-year budget setting formulation.
  • Review management accounts and carry out a budget month on month review.
  • Lead on the business development activities with the aim of securing new business to include tender/quotation production

The person specification

  • At least 5 years client-driven B2B experience gained within a management position
  • Facilities management background is highly desirable
  • Solid practical understanding of HR procedures and processes, to include recruitment, disciplinaries and right to work
  • Proven ability in building and sustaining positive and effective working relationships
  • Team management experience and proven leadership skills
  • Financial planning and budgetary control experience.
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen with the ability to understand and control a P&L
  • Experience in delivering change and maintaining positive working relationships
  • Analytical and able to find simple, creative solutions to problems and identify opportunities to improve operational performance
  • Generalist approach to delivering HR / H&S and GDPR requirements
  • Excellent communication skills – articulate and focussed, proficient written skills, active listener
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Multi – task orientated
  • Highly computer literate
  • Must hold a full UK driving license
  • Flexibility around working hours and patterns

Salary & benefits

  • The salary is £55,000-£60,000 pa depending on experience and sector background
  • £5,000 car allowance pa
