HR Manager

Permanent | £44,000 per annum

We are delighted to have been chosen to recruit the new HR Operations Manager for an instantly recognisable Welsh company.  Our client seeks an experienced and proactive HR professional to join a business in a time of change & growth.

The role reports into an experienced and supportive Head of HR who is keen to recruit someone who will take the lead operationally within the team in providing consistent and professional HR guidance across all departments. The HR team support a unique and diverse workforce employed in a fascinating Welsh business.

As the ideal candidate you will be proactive and consultative with strong HR generalist experience and team leadership skills. You will have practical knowledge of employment law and its application together with a passion for coaching and upskilling operational managers on their role in the employee lifecycle.

This is the perfect role for someone able to lead the HR operational team and who possesses the drive and energy to further develop the HR offering across all areas of the business. The hard working and loyal workforce are central to the success of this business and as such, this person should relish the opportunity to make continuous improvements and support the current change programme, which includes the implementation of a new HR system.

The job

  • You will lead and manage day to day operational activities in the HR department in conjunction with the Head of HR, and develop operational process improvement activities to drive efficiencies.
  • You will take an active role in policy review and development.
  • You will manage and develop the HR team, delegating as appropriate.
  • You will work closely with the Head of HR on design and delivery of strategic projects, deputising as and when required.
  • You will coach, guide and develop managers on people management issues at various levels throughout the organisation
  • You will actively support employee engagement activities, initiatives and change management processes as well as contributing to health and wellbeing and employee benefits initiatives

The person specification

  • CIPD Level 7 qualification, willing to work towards or equivalent experience
  • Previous generalist experience.
  • Proven track record and experience of leading day to day operations within a busy People function. Significant experience of complex employee relations cases.
  • Significant experience of working within an organisation where a variety of unions are recognised.
  • Experience of delivering generalist advice to managers and employees.
  • Experience of collating and analysing data to produce and present statistical reports.
  • Experience of dealing with challenging situations.  Evidence of constructive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across organisational boundaries.
  • Good knowledge of HR systems.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current employment law and best practice.
