Director of Finance

Permanent | £51,000-£61,000 per annum

We are delighted to be working in partnership with Perthyn in helping them find a brilliant Director of Finance for this newly created role.

Perthyn is a large not for profit organisation that provides care and support services for people with a learning disability, in both Wales and England. The job

Perthyn is looking for a talented and experienced senior finance professional, someone who will be responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of finance (including payroll) and ICT services, as well as the management of relations with all other departments across the charity.

As the new Director of Finance, you will:

  • Shape and implement effective strategies, policies and plans that will result in the delivery of high-quality professional finance, payroll, information, and communications technology (ICT) services.
  • Be a proactive member of the Executive Management Team (EMT) and contribute to formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of corporate strategy, business plans and policies.
  • Ensure relevant new resources and funding streams are identified and deploy as appropriate.
  • Work in partnership with other relevant organisations, and support co-operative and co-productive approaches to the provision of social care services.
  • Take the lead role in the development and implementation of Perthyn’s financial strategy.
  • Contribute to the overall business development for Perthyn by working in partnership with operational colleagues and other senior stakeholders.
  • Deputise for the Chief Executive Officer as and when required.

The person specification

  • Qualified CCAB accountant with 5 years post qualification experience
  • Extensive management and leadership experience
  • Highly experienced in leading a finance team and owning all responsibilities with regards to finance
  • Demonstrate empathy, understanding and commitment to the work of a disability charity
  • Experience of taking lead responsibility for a non-finance area e.g., operations, IT, administration
  • Emotional intelligence, with the ability and passion to inspire and motivate teams
  • Ability to remain calm and deliver under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Good problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Commercially aware with the ability to advise on the best path for growth
  • Ability to handle high levels of pressure and maintain critical decision-making
  • High levels of integrity and openness combined with commitment to good governance
  • Demonstrate high levels of discretion, confidentiality, showing the ability to deal with sensitive issues
  • Commitment to professional practice and continuous personal development
  • Full, clean driving licence and use of a vehicle.

Salary & benefits

  • Salary is up to £61,000 pa and will depend on the candidate’s experience, plus £4,800 pa car allowance
  • Flexible working policy – 38-hour working week
