Finance Manager

Permanent | £32,878 per annum

We are delighted to be working with this wonderful charity based in Cardiff in helping them find an experienced Finance Manager. As the new Finance Manager, you will play an essential role within the core management team, and report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. You will be experienced in managing the finances of a small organisation and managing a small finance team. Experience of charity accounts and fundraising and/or corporate sponsorship would be advantageous.

***Part time hours (30 hours, 4 days a week) will be considered for this post***

The job

  • Set and control the organisation’s budgets, financial procedures, and accounting system
  • Manage the finance department staff (team of 2) and oversee all day-to-day financial transactions of the organisations using Sage Line 50
  • Maintain an accurate      fixed asset register
  • Liaise with external bodies e.g the Welsh Government
  • Assist with fundraising and income generation
  • Assist the Chief Executive Officer and senior team with staffing and financing recommendations
  • Ensure that the organisation complies with financial and legal   requirements
  • Assisting with year-end procedures
  • Assist with IT activities such as cyber security
  • Reporting and tracking of grant payments
  • Using programmes including     Sage, MS Word, Excel  and Access.

The person specification

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (Part qualified/qualified AAT or CCAB)
  • 3 – 4 years’ experience in an accounting environment
  • Practical experience of Sage Line 50 accounting
  • Payroll, VAT and period end experience
  • High level knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • Tact, diplomacy and ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience of working in the charitable/voluntary sector is desirable
  • Welsh speaker or the willingness to learn Welsh is desirable

Salary & benefits

  • Salary is £32,878, increasing to £33,782 after 6 months and completion of probation
