Accounts Administrator

Permanent | £24,000 per annum

Our client, a successful and established business based in east Cardiff has a vacancy for a capable and motivated Accounts Administrator. Working in a small team and reporting into a supportive and diligent Accounts Manager, this is an ideal role for someone who is keen to work in a busy accounts office.  You will primarily be responsible for accurate and timely management of sales and purchase ledgers for related businesses. 

Sales Ledger

  • Generating invoices
  • Collection of direct debits
  • Inputting payments to ledger
  • Dealing with customer queries and complaints
  • Credit control/Liaising with customers/solicitors
  • Issuing refund cheques
  • Daily banking
  • End of month routine, ensuring all prints are presented on time.

Purchase Ledger

  • Matching purchase orders and delivery notes to purchase invoice and gaining authorisation of invoices
  • Inputting invoice details onto computer system
  • Preparing payments from supplier balance prints
  • Inputting payments to ledger
  • Issue of cheque payments
  • Reconciling statements
  • Dealing with supplier queries
  • End of month routine, ensuring all prints are presented on time.


  • Daily maintenance of cashbooks
  • Produce daily cash figures for Senior Management
  • Collection of cash from on-site areas
  • Petty cash control
  • Management of company vehicles e.g. MOT’s, Road Tax, Insurance & Breakdown cover
  • General administration & liaising with storage customers
  • Collate time sheets and process wage payments on a weekly basis
  • Print relevant reports and distribute payslips
  • Calculate, record and make payment of PAYE and NI to Inland Revenue
  • Complete sub-contractor’s tax payments/certificates
  • All other associated accounts administration.

The person

  • Ability to plan and manage own workload in order to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate previous purchase & sales ledger experience
  • Experience of providing very high levels of accuracy, attention to detail, numeracy and literacy in a similar role
  • Possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with finance and non-finance colleagues and external suppliers
  • Have proven ability in working to strict deadlines and following set processes
  • Positive team working skills and a flexible approach


  • Salary is £20-24,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • Holidays are 22 days plus bank holidays
