What recruitment experience should professional candidates expect?

The candidate experience is a key focus for recruiters and employers in 2017. Job response rates are dwindling and some companies are struggling to recruit talent with the skills they need (see our recent skills blog). So, as a candidate, you can increasingly have the upper hand when it comes to choosing who to work with.  But recent survey results suggest the recruitment experience is not up to scratch.

The 2016 LinkedIn UK Talent Trends Survey found that two of the key roadblocks to candidates changing jobs were ‘not knowing what it’s really like to work at the company’ (44% of candidates) and ‘not understanding what’s really expected of the role’ (33% of candidates). Building an understanding of both the candidates’ values and goals and the company’s, is absolutely vital to finding candidates a satisfying and rewarding role. At Sitka we maintain close relationships with employers so that we can provide you with all the information you need to decide whether a role is right for you.

We know that one of the main reasons people leave a job is for career advancement, but we also appreciate that the best role is one with a company that is a good cultural it. We aim to help aspiring leaders and managers reach their career ambitions. We take the time to get to know you, as it’s only by truly understanding your goals and motivations that we will find you a compatible role.

Recent research by CV-Library found that almost two-thirds of candidates disliked the job hunting process; 56.9% cited a lack of response and 17% cited vague updates from recruiters, as two of the top five bugbears. Perhaps they are yours? Whether it’s a candidates’ market or not, we believe all job seekers deserve to receive feedback and frequent updates after applying or interviewing for a role. Otherwise, how will you be able to learn from the experience and advance your career? Although you might not be successful with your first application, the right opportunity may be just around the corner.

At Sitka, we really care about helping conscientious professionals advance their careers. When you’re successful in securing a role we celebrate with you and always keep in touch to make sure you’re happy with the move.

Recruitment is a two-way process and we believe that candidates who show dedication to finding a new job, should receive a reciprocal commitment from their recruitment partner.
